I thought it was bunnies and candy and baskets. Hunting Easter eggs and painting eggs and having fun with the family. It was dressed up in white gloves and hats and wearing black shiny shoes to church. Trying not to fidget that was hard not to do when you are young, and your little brother is pulling your hair. Well, let me tell you why my mom made us girls wear those gloves to church. It was to cover the stain on our fingers from painting those eggs. This was in the 1960s when we lived in St louis, MO. One time I remember we did not go to church, and my older brother and sister were being mischievous. They watched where our neighbor hid their eggs and when they were gone those stinkers went over to their yard and cracked some of the eggs then put them back right where the parents hid them. Then watched the kids find the eggs later when they got back. But their fun did backfire on them because the neighbor tattled on them and my mom had to punish them for their trick. Speaking of candy and chocolate we have a Russell Stover Store on our website. https://www.kqzyfj.com/click-101243613-12221976.
Then as I got older, I realized Easter has a whole new meaning. It is about the life and resurrection of our Saviour. How he gave his life for us. How he was brought back to life out of the tomb in three days after being hung on the cross. He went willing for our sins to wash us clean. He started out in humble beginnings in a manger then worked with his father as a carpenter. When he was twelve, he was sharing the word in the temple with scholars. His father and mother had to go back and find him when they asked him why he did not leave with the group he told them “I must be about my Father’s business” from that time on his mother Mary carried those words in her heart. He did many miracles and had twelve disciples following him and helping him until the time for him to be hung on the cross he was thirty-three years old. As a Sunday school teacher of five-ten-year-olds. I have found using the resurrection eggs help keep the attention of the younger ones. On our Christian Book Store https://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-101243613-15466817 they have the eggs with the book that helps to explain the whole life of Christ.
Easter is a time of celebration and family time. Time of renewal. Yes, it is a time of getting together and having fun as long as it is not hurting anyone as my brother and sister did. And yes, it is a time of eating and playing games and relaxing. Go out and have some fun, enjoy nature, enjoy the sunrise, and of course enjoy your coffee or green tea. May this Holiday find you Blessed.
